As some of you may know my wonderful brother (Taylor) is incredibly sick. He’s currently in the hospital (and has been for 1 month already) with necrotizing pancreatitis, a life-threatening condition, and his recovery is expected to take at least 2 more months (possibly many, many more, but hopefully less!). He is also autistic, and small comforts like stuffies (specifically Spongebob, Jack The Skellington, Pacman, etc.) and sensory items help him get through these long, stressful days.

My parents and his caregivers (Michael & Vanessa) visit the hospital every day, for many hours at a time, providing the care, support, advocacy, and comfort he needs. For my parents, the distance to the hospital is about 40 km one way, and daily expenses like parking, gas, and meals quickly add up. Michael & Vanessa are new parents, and they need to split their time between caring for their son and visiting Taylor in the hospital, which makes their days even longer and more exhausting.
