Supporting Tammy Beaulne with her fight against Cancer
Donation protected
My name is Renee Fleury and I have been a co worker of Tammy Beaulne for 24 years as well as shared many years managing in the hockey world.
Tammy has always gone above and beyond over the years to fundraise and help others, now it’s time we show her we are there for her in her time of need.
Tammy was originally misdiagnosed a few months back and received news on May 19th that has a rare form of cancer.
Tammy had surgery on June 13th to remove the tumour and a lymph node. Biopsies were also done on 2 sentinel lymph nodes. The surgeon indicated in the followup appointment that the recommendation is radiation.
Today, July 25th, Tammy met with the radiation oncologist who has indicated that she will need 6 weeks of radiation.
Tammy was also advised that chance of reoccurrence is high with this type of cancer and with the low margins from the surgical results, the chances of reoccurrence are even higher. Radiation will help to lower those chances.
Tammy will be in Sudbury next week for some radiation planning and test and the radiation will start within 2 weeks of those tests.
It’s very unfortunate that Sudbury no longer has the Daffodil Lodge for out patient accommodations.
Tammy has been unable to work since May 27th, due to appointments with specialists from both Toronto and Barrie, as well as the surgery and current recovery. Although she qualifies for Employment Insurance, it only covers about 55% of her income and with added travel and accommodation costs for herself as well as Ben, her fiancé, when he is able to be with her during treatment, these costs are expected to be quite high and added expenses not prepared for.
Co workers, friends, family and hockey world. Please help me in showing Tammy that we are there for her. She has always gone above and beyond fundraising, volunteering and helping others. Now she is the one that needs support.
Thank you
