Supporting Taine Woodford with his cancer battle

On Saturday, 8 October 2022, my nephew Taine Woodford went to his doctor suffering from a shortness of breath and an excessive heart rate. Taine was immediately transferred to Royal North Shore Hospital, whereby, a series of tests confirmed he had cancer (seminoma mediastinal).

Whilst seminoma mediastinal is a type of testicular cancer, Taine’s condition is unique in that it’s a 12cm tumour positioned between his lungs and heart.

Taine just turned 20 years of age and is currently contracted to South Sydney Rabbitohs Rugby League Football Club. Taine is studying media/communications at university, whilst also undertaking an internship with Fox Sports.

Taine currently lives with his beautiful girlfriend Ahlia, who is also studying and working two jobs.

Taine’s medical team has indicated that he has a long road ahead of him, which includes immediately commencing an intense 4-month chemotherapy treatment.

This devasting and cruel illness has taken away Taine’s ability to work and earn any form of income, which has heightened their financial pressures. This fund has been created to assist and support Taine and Ahlia in ensuring they can meet their current financial demands and stay on top of their everyday bills.

They say “tough times never last but tough people do.” With everyone’s support, we have no doubt that Taine will tackle this hurdle with the same conviction and determination that he has applied to every facet of his life thus far.
