Our dear neighbor and friend, Suzanne, is facing a crisis no one should have to face, and she urgently needs the support of her community.

Suzanne is one of the kindest, most selfless people you could ever meet. For decades, she worked at VCU and its health system, spending nearly 25 years helping others. She has also dedicated much of her life to adopting retired greyhounds, giving countless dogs a safe, loving home. Her current pups, Gabi and Charley, are her world, and she has always made sure they are cared for, even when she is struggling herself.

Recently, Suzanne was the victim of a devastating financial scam that wiped out her savings and left her unable to keep up with basic living expenses. As a result, she is now on the brink of homelessness while living in extremely unsafe conditions.

Her HVAC system is completely nonfunctional, and she has been trying to heat her home in freezing temperatures with space heaters. Adding more heaters would only drive her Dominion bill even higher, which is already overwhelming. Her roof and plumbing need major repairs, and her mortgage has fallen behind to the point where she fears foreclosure. She is also struggling with everyday necessities such as food, prescriptions, and utilities.

Despite all of this, it never even occurred to Suzanne to ask for help. That's simply not who she is. She has spent her life giving to others, quietly and humbly. Now, she desperately needs others to show up for her.
