Supporting SUDEP Action in memory of James
Hello, we are James' family Lorna(wife), Amy (sister), Georgina (sister in law) Jacob and Joey (James' sons)
This September it will be two years since James tragically died. It's been a long journey to get to the right conclusion about how and why he died.
James had been suffering from epilepsy, which is the most common neurological disorder. For most people epilepsy can be controlled through appropriate medication and healthy lifestyles. However, SUDEP (Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy) is a rare and very unundestood consequence for some people suffering with epilepsy.
It is not understood why some people suffer from SUDEP, and although risk factors have been identified there is often no obvious reason why one person may die and not another.
Since James passed away we have fought hard to get the answers we needed from the different areas that should have supported James. SUDEP Action have helped us get those answers and have supported us through this journey. Their work is vital in supporting bereaved families and eliminating the risk of SUPED.
James was a wonderful, caring, funny and exceptionally intelligent person. He was devoted to his family. There is not a single day that we don't feel the loss.
In order to mark this sad anniversary we are running the Heaton Park run to raise money and awareness of SUDEP. We are grateful for any donations. Thank you.
Lorna, Amy, Georgina, Jacob and Joey.
