Supporting Students at Horizons Centre in Ghana

Hey friends!
For those of you who know me, you'll KNOW how much I love Horizons Centre and how much these students have greatly impacted my life, and so many others. I have been a close friend and supporter of Horizons Centre in Sandema, Ghana for over 10 years now. I have been fortunate enough to spend many summers with these amazing young people and watched then all reach their personal and academic goals despite so many obstacles. These young men and Ghanaian staff are part of my family and I think of no better birthday gift than to support them.
The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly impacted the fundraising initiatives that have been keep the centre's lights on and the young men and women in their education and training programs they have worked so hard to get into. While we are grateful that these students and community are safe and healthy during this challenging time, Horizon Centre is in urgent need of additional support to keep the students in school. 100% of donations go directly to Horizons Centre students!
Breakdown of funds needed for student programs:
Grade School/Junior High $400
High School $276
College Diploma $920
Nursing Training College $1015
Teacher's College $3345
University Programs $13,720
Small Business Grant $4190
Over the past 20 years, of the 45 students who are part of the HCC family:
- 22 have graduated college/university and are working in their fields
- 2 are doing post-graduate studies
- 3 are interested in starting small businesses, so we are helping them put together their plans and then we will give them start-up support
- 8 are in college/university (various programs/years)
- 4 have just graduated high school and are applying to post-secondary institutions etc.
- 5 are in primary/junior high
Every little bit counts!
