Update on Steve:
4/27/26- Steve is still in ICU. His heart is back in a normal rhythm and he is off the Amiodarone drip. His blood sugars remain unbalanced so he is still on the insulin drip and is still on a heparin drip. He will get a PEG tube placed for nutrition over the next couple of days as he still cannot swallow safely. He is responding to us by nodding, shrugging his shoulders and smiling. The Neuro team assures us this is temporary although there is no timeframe for how long it will take to recover. The oncology team is following closely- waiting on final pathology to come back. Continued prayers are appreciated❤️.
Hi everyone,
On 4/14/26, Steve went to AHUV after noticing difficulty with word finding, changes in his routine, and slight right-sided weakness. An MRI revealed a mass on his left frontal lobe, and he was transferred to UCSF for neurosurgical care.
He was diagnosed with a high-grade glioma and underwent a craniotomy on 4/17/26. He is now recovering in the hospital, working to rebuild brain pathways. At this time, he can mostly answer yes/no questions and is just beginning to form more words. His right side is not functioning yet, but the surgeon is hopeful this is temporary and shared that the surgery went well. We are holding onto that hope.
For those that don’t know Steve, he has been with the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department for 40 years, still working up until this hospitalization. In his spare time, he enjoys being an assistant coach for our local little league and watching any kind of car racing he can get to.
This has been an overwhelming time for our family. We’re grateful to be by his side, but the cost of travel and lodging continues to grow. He will remain at UCSF, then transfer to acute rehab in San Francisco, followed by several weeks of radiation.
We humbly ask for any support—whether a donation, share, or keeping Steve in your thoughts. It truly means more than we can express.
Thank you for your kindness and support. ❤️
