Supporting our Dad Stephen Davis (Day), post Hemorrhage

Donation protected
As many of you know, in February 2024 Stephen suffered a near-fatal hemorrhagic stroke. Because of Lily’s quick thinking, his life was saved—but everything changed in an instant.

He went from living a full, independent life to needing 24-hour care in an assisted living facility. While he understands everything around him, the stroke left him unable to speak or write, and paralyzed on his right side.

And yet—Stephen is still very much Stephen.

He still lights up when friends and family walk into the room. He laughs and connects in his own ways. He cherishes time with his grandsons Noah (7) and Felix (3), and is so excited to be welcoming a granddaughter this summer. He still finds joy in music (blues, classical, and singing along to the gods of rock), watching BBC series, and cheering on Chelsea and the Pats, and listening to WHRB: especially the Saturday Opera or the “Orgies,” where students play blocks marathon-style of one composer, performer, or genre during exam time.

Over the past several years, through illness, caregiving, and now recovery and restabilization, the family has carried an enormous emotional and financial burden. In working to stabilize his situation and protect his home during the stress of 2024, difficult but necessary decisions were made – resulting in a significant and unexpected tax obligation.

We resisted asking for help to this point, but we’ve now reached a point where continuing to cover this burden would create a cycle of additional taxes, steadily draining the resources he depends on for his care and future.

With this campaign, we are hoping to raise $50,000 to help ease this burden—allowing Day to make a meaningful payment, protect his home, and move forward with greater stability and dignity.

If you are able to give, or even just share this page, it would mean so much to us. Your support will directly help our dad maintain the care, security, and quality of life he deserves.

Thank you for being part of his circle of care.
