Help Knights of Bytes Fight!

Knights of Bytes is not a multi-million-dollar company with 100+ employees, who may know a few names of their clients. We are a husband-wife team that run a small business, an Omaha-based IT company. This is our livelihood, just like the small businesses of our customers in Omaha, Lincoln, and the surrounding communities. Our services are to help maintain and support computer systems. We prioritize protecting our customers from the unscrupulous hackers that take advantage of people during times of crisis.

Our clients have reached out to us during this uncertain time. They are worried about their business, their employees, and their customers. Our clients know we understand and sympathize with their struggles, and they have asked for reduced billing, or may even have to cancel their services due to their business being severely impacted. They have come to us, embarrassed and scared, because they do not know what the future holds, while trying to keep the doors open for the families that depend on them.  They still have computers and servers that need to be fixed and managed, networks to keep up, and software needing updates, so that they can keep their business running. During this time, a business needs it's computers to just plain work AND they need to make sure their business is protected from dangerous hackers.

We will not quit on our clients just because of a pandemic that no one could prepare to avoid. We are in this together, and we have assured our clients that we will continue to support them until they can cover their IT expenses by offering flexible terms. No one’s services will be terminated because of this economic crisis. By working together, we can all survive this.

In addition, numerous small, local businesses have asked for help with remote access, because they were not prepared to work from at home. Now they are faced with the logistics of trying to reorganize their IT systems while dealing with limited revenue. We want to help them too! The more we can help businesses in our communities, the stronger our recovery will be.

We know that this will hurt our business financially in the short-term. We have researched many options to help us continue supporting our clients. The SBA Economic Injury (small business loan) site is severely overwhelmed and is no longer taking applications online. QuickBooks recommends that businesses set up a GoFundMe to support what may not currently be available. With this recommendation, we have chosen to organize this campaign because it can help us fulfill our immediate needs, which is to support our clients and our community partners.
We have staff that work 24x7 to support our clients and tools/software that we utilize to keep their critical systems running properly, protected and backed up. Thankfully we have savings to help, but there this is limited. By donating, you are offsetting those costs for our clients. By helping us, you are helping local businesses in Omaha stay in business and keep their staff on payroll. Once we have started to recover, we will be paying this forward by donating (monetarily and time) to the Stephen Center in Omaha as a thank you to the generous people who have supported us in during this time.

Thank you so much for all of your help so that we can continue helping our local small businesses.
