It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we have created this page for my oldest daughter’s mother and brother. Shanese Brown and her oldest son, Edgardo (E.J.) Torres, who tragically passed away early this morning in a devastating house fire.

Shanese leaves behind her youngest son JoJo, her two daughters Makaya and Zeanna, and her beloved granddaughter Leilani. In a single moment, this family lost not only two precious lives, but everything they owned.

E.J. was a great kid with a smiling heart, just shy of graduating high school. Everyone was so proud of him and the young man he was becoming. His life was full of promise, and his loss is deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.

Shanese was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back without hesitation. She had a heart of gold, and her family meant everything to her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and a loving presence to everyone who knew her. Shanese had also just completed nursing school and was only two weeks away from receiving her diploma — a milestone she worked tirelessly toward so she could build a better future for her children. Her loss, and the loss of E.J., is beyond words.

All funds raised will go directly toward supporting the surviving family and children as they begin to navigate this unimaginable tragedy — helping with immediate needs, funeral and memorial expenses, rebuilding their lives, and providing stability during this heartbreaking time.
