Supporting Sean, Mary, & Nico Ericson

On November 15, 2020, our family welcomed Nico Daniel Ericson into the world. Nico is a blessing. My sister and brother-in-law noticed early on a number of abnormalities in his breathing and ability to swallow. After significant testing, he was transferred to Denver Children's Hospital where he was diagnosed with a genetic disorder. This disorder is most likely CHARGE syndrome. This  diagnosis affects many areas of his body and our family is learning every day what new challenges Nico is facing. 

CHARGE is an abbreviation for several of the features common in the disorder, it can impact the ears, heart, eyes, and throat. The pattern of malformations varies among individuals with this disorder, and the multiple health problems can be life-threatening in infancy. 

We recently learned that Nico has significant and uncorrectable vision problems  in both eyes. We will be learning how much he will be able to see over the coming months.

Nico is in the CICU at Children's Hospital to determine if he will need open heart surgery. My sister and brother-in-law are staying at the Ronald McDonald House nearby. Our family is taking it one step at a time, but it's easy to get overwhelmed. Words cannot express how much we appreciate the incredible love and support we've received from our army of friends and family.

In addition to your words of encouragement and prayer, this fund will help with meals, gas, supplies, and Nico's medical care. There are a lot of unknowns, but the one thing we do know is that this little boy is loved beyond words and we will continue to everything we can to ensure he thrives.
