Scott King is a husband, step-father, and friend to many. He has an incredible talent and passion for building things and was able to start and operate his own construction company. Through the years, Scott and his team have built many beautiful homes for families in and around the Lakeville area. Scott also has a passion for motorcycles and loves to hop on the bike with his wife Tracy and cruise through the backcountry. When they have free time, they love working on their dream home, doing all of the work themselves.
As many of you know, Scott was diagnosed with tongue cancer in December 2018. Since then, he has been fighting the battle of his life. In February, he had his initial surgery to remove the cancerous tumor. They were able to get clear margins on the tumor; however, they removed 34 lymph nodes from his neck and three showed cancer, indicating the cancer had spread. He was also losing weight rapidly, so they put in a feeding tube to keep as much weight on him as possible (he’s always been skinny!) He then went through 32 treatments of radiation and 3 rounds of chemo. The tumor had grown to the point where it was obstructing his airway, so the doctors elected to put in a trach to help him breath.
Scott approached the end of radiation and chemo with a strong and positive attitude. After his first scan, Scott and Tracy were dealt more bad news. The chemo and radiation did not work, and another tumor had grown. They then teamed up with an amazing team from the U of M and underwent a trial of chemo immunotherapy. The U of M team has worked closely with the team of doctor’s to set up a personalized approach to Scott’s cancer. Unfortunately, the scans show that the tumor has continued to grow. They have now been referred for another clinical trial at the U of M for photodynamic therapy (light therapy).
Scott is unable to work and Tracy, being his caregiver 24/7, is also unable to work. We cannot take away the emotional roller coaster that they are going through, yet any contribution to help with medical and living expenses would ease the financial burden that this has caused over the last 11 months and as they go forward with the fight of their lives.
If you are able, please consider donating to this wonderful couple. Any amount no matter how great or small will be greatly appreciated.
Please feel free to share this post to help spread the word. Thank you!
