Supporting Samara Edaakie and Her Family

Donation protected
Evan (Landon) was my nurse preceptor as a new grad in the ICU. He is still one of the best nurses I know, and offered kindness, understanding, friendship, and a helping hand as I entered the nursing profession.

While he takes the role of ICU nurse extremely seriously, he takes the role of dad even more earnestly.

Evan’s daughter Samara is currently a Senior in high school. She plays Violin in the orchestra and has been playing since she was 8 years old. Samara also plays the flute, piano, and ukulele and has a general love for music. Samara also has a passion for caring for animals and has a rooster named Nugget and a Chihuahua named Cupcake.

Over the past year, Samara has faced serious health concerns. She spent a considerable amount of time this year in the hospital and undergoing testing. After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in June, Samara has now been diagnosed with a brain tumor in her Cerebellum.

This tumor affects her balance, coordination, and her ability to walk. She currently needs to use a wheelchair for mobility, and has difficulty doing some of her favorite activities. She is scheduled to undergo extensive surgery to remove the tumor in the first week of December. Surgery of this nature can be unpredictable, and Samara will have a long and tough recovery ahead of her.

I would personally trust Evan to take care of my own family after surgery, as I know he would take on this role with dedication, attention to detail, and compassion. I know Evan will do the same when caring for Samara. He is more than capable of taking care of his family, and I can not think of a better-equipped parent than him to help his daughter recover.

Evan is not one to often ask for help. With that said, I know this process will be tough emotionally and financially for him and his family. He is unsure how long he will have to step away from his job as an ICU Nurse as he cares for Samara. Evan has already had to take time off during the testing process, and will need to take a considerable amount of time off as he helps Samara on her road to recovery.

I would like to assist in alleviating some of this stress by setting up this page. This amazing nurse and his amazing family deserve to have some financial stress eased. Thank you for any support you are willing to offer to Samara, Evan, and this family.
