Supporting Ron's Journey Through Cancer

Hi, my name is Roni Griguts, and I'm fundraising for my dad, Ron Griguts. For one and a half years, he's been fighting a Glioblastoma, a cancerous brain tumor, and while not easy, the love and support thus far on this journey have been remarkable.

 

My dad's journey all started one snowy winter morning when my dad was out shoveling and had come into the house for what we thought was a break. As my mother Carm was making her way down the stairs, little did she know, my dad was taking a seizure. He could not respond to her, nor could he stop his right hand from shaking. After a minute or so, he came out of it, and the ambulance took him to the hospital. That's when we all found out about the tumor.

 

In these 1.5 years, he's undergone four surgical procedures on his left frontal lobe area, where the tumor lives. The latest surgery did provide some positive news around the possibility of the doctors successfully removing most or all of the cancer. Unfortunately, he took a Gran Mal Seizure just recently, which has caused more worry for my dad, mother, and all members of the family and friends. As scary as that moment was, my father is a fighter and fought passed it and is recovering.

 

Due to all of the procedures and time spent in hospitals and rehabilitation centers, the medical bills are piling up. My mother is tasked with being somewhat of a caregiver amongst the team of medical professionals treating my father, inhibiting her ability to work, which had a tremendous negative impact on their income. Our amazing friends, who are certainly more like family to us, already held a fundraiser, which was an incredible experience and turn out, and we thank all of you for the support.

I wanted to do this against my mother's wishes because if any of us were in my dad's position, we would all step up in this way for eachother. I thank you in advance for your generosity through this journey. Everything helps. My dad is my hero and so far he's proven why - he fights and will continue to fight. The love and support he has received only strengthens his fight. Thank you, all.
