Last May, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 2 triple negative breast cancer. Immediately following her diagnosis, she underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy over six months. Despite everything her body was going through, she rarely missed a day of work or a trip to Marshfield to visit her granddaughter. She’s a hard worker, a helper, a grandma who puts everyone else first, and someone who never asks for anything in return.
This past December, she had a double mastectomy, and since her surgery on December 15, her recovery has been much harder than any of us expected. In the weeks that followed, she made multiple trips to the emergency room and was recently hospitalized, where doctors discovered several serious complications that had gone undetected for weeks, including a kidney infection, a blood clot, and severe sepsis. The recovery and lingering effects have been exhausting, leaving her unable to return to work for the past month as she focuses on regaining her strength.
Because she hasn’t been able to work, the financial burden has grown quickly. Funds raised will help cover everyday bills, keep her health insurance active through her work, assist with transportation to appointments, and manage her mounting medical bills.
Starting this fundraiser was not easy. My mom is not one to ever ask for help and very hesitantly agreed to this fundraiser, but I know that even a small amount of support can ease the financial burden this has brought on and allow her to focus on healing.
If you’re able to donate, share, or simply keep her in your thoughts, our family would be incredibly grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read her story and for any support you’re able to give.
