Supporting Robin’s Fight with Pancreatic Cancer

Donation protected

My sister, Robin became jaundiced and was admitted to a Rhode
Island hospital over Thanksgiving in November 2020.  We were all devastated to learn that Robin had pancreatic cancer.

In the days that followed, there were discussions and a decision
made to have her cancer treatment provided at Mass General
Hospital in Boston, where they have a team of physicians who
specialize in treating pancreatic cancer patients.  It was important to Robin that her whole treatment team was working together,
within one facility, allowing for continuity and the best care
offered, hopefully with the best outcome.

There was an initial teleconference with the team of doctors who would all be treating Robin, in early December, but due to covid
affecting her immediate family, her treatment was postponed until after the holiday in January.  Due to the seriousness of her
diagnosis Robin has not been able to work since November.

Despite having chosen a great team of physicians, Robin’s road to
recovery is a long one!  She started chemo in January, every other week and has had several interruptions and delays due to the side effects of the chemo, resulting in four inpatient hospitalizations.

She just completed her 7th round of chemo, with the final round
scheduled in two weeks.  After completing chemo, she will be
scheduled for radiation four times a week, lasting into July.  Many scans and tests have continually monitored her response to
chemo and will continue through her radiation treatments, in
hopes of determining that the tumor has shrunk enough to be
removed through an extensive surgical Whipple procedure.

For as long as I can remember, my sister has never complained
about anything including what she has to endure right now!
Chemo has taken its toll, she has lost all of her hair, she often
doesn’t feel well, and is extremely tired most of the time, along
with the financial burdens she is dealing with.  To add fuel to the
fire, her husband, Normand, was hurt at work and has been out of work since February.

Luckily, they had decided to move in with their oldest son, about a year before Robin’s diagnosis, in an in-law environment but now
worry that they are not able to contribute their share of the
mortgage, household bills and food.

I have decided to start this “Go Fund Me” in hopes that it lightens
the burden she feels and allows her to focus on her health and
treatments, not having to worry about how she will pay
for her medications, her treatments and her surgery.  All which
will leave hefty amounts not covered by her insurance,  not to
mention the worry she has about making her cobra payments to     insure her health insurance is continued.

Please help me support my sister’s battle with pancreatic cancer.  Any amount will be deeply appreciated.
