Supporting Renée and Lissencephaly
Donation protected
Hi, Stephanie and I have spent a long winter of 4:45 AM mornings training for Ironman 70.3, Panama City, Panama. The event is this coming weekend, and we would like to dedicate our race to a very special girl named Renée. We humbly ask that you sponsor our mileage, up to the full 70.3 miles, or 140.6 if supporting us both.
Renée has a very rare life-limiting condition called Lissencephaly. At her first diagnosis, she wasn’t expected to reach 2 years of age. She is now 15, which is truly an amazing feat.
As Renée is 15 going on 16 now, she is outgrowing her current wheelchair, and although small and light in comparison to other girls her age, she is now almost 60lbs, which together with the weight of her wheelchair, is making the most basic of outings (even the most basic of walks) extremely difficult.
She has had countless trips to the park, zoo, camping holidays long walks in the woods, bike rides, and has been horse riding, ice skating, swimming, canoeing, and even braved a zip wire and repelling.
A new lightweight wheelchair will help maintain a quality of living that we all take for granted.
Your donation will help us get through the heat and humidity this coming weekend, and we know Renée will be forever grateful.
