For over a decade, my daughter Remy has called Seattle home. During that time, she built a life shaped by independence, perseverance, and growth while living far from her immediate family and support system in Atlanta.
As with many long journeys, hers has included both meaningful memories and deeply challenging seasons. A little over a year ago, Remy entered into a relationship that began with promise and shared responsibility, including signing a lease together. Over time, the relationship became unhealthy and ultimately physical, leading to their separation. When the relationship ended, Remy was left solely responsible for a lease that was originally manageable with two incomes, creating an ongoing financial strain that has been difficult to overcome.
At the same time, Remy has faced serious health challenges that affected her ability to work consistently. Compounding this, an unresolved apartment leak caused damage to much of her dog grooming equipment, the tools she depends on for her livelihood, limiting her ability to meet income expectations and maintain stability despite her continued efforts.
Deciding to leave a place you have called home for thirteen years is not easy. This decision was made after much reflection, resilience, and courage. Ultimately, Remy recognized the need to return to Atlanta to be closer to family and a reliable support system as she focuses on healing, rebuilding, and creating a more stable future. Here, she will be surrounded by family including myself, her sister and brother in law Roxanne and Chris who are ready to support her during this transition.
This fundraiser is intended to support Remy in making this essential move by helping cover relocation costs, transportation, and the immediate expenses that come with starting over in a safer and more supported environment. Your contribution directly helps make this transition possible and allows Remy the space to focus on her health, stability, and next steps forward.
We are grateful for any support you feel moved to offer. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps ease the weight of this transition and supports Remy as she begins a new chapter rooted in safety, support, and hope.
With sincere gratitude,
Debbie
