Our beautiful Remy is just 18 years old and has already faced more than most do in a lifetime. Remy is not only my niece, but a deeply loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin and a friend to many. She brings creativity, kindness and joy to everyone around her.
In March 2023, at just 15 years old, Remy was first diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. She faced an incredibly intense treatment journey, undergoing 13 rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. She also endured multiple major surgeries on her leg including a megaprosthesis to replace her fibula, tibia, and knee — leaving her with permanent foot drop. Through it all, Remy showed extraordinary strength and resilience.
After finishing treatment, Remy was given the all-clear. Determined to embrace life, she threw herself into new passions — taking up wheelchair basketball with the PlayOn Wheelchair Basketball program. Her dedication and talent saw her named in the Victorian Under 18 team and selected for the first Victorian Wonders Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball team — an incredible achievement.
Exactly 12 months after finishing treatment, Remy heartbreakingly relapsed, with the cancer returning in her sixth right rib. Once again, she faced it head-on — undergoing a further 12 rounds of a different chemotherapy, including a high-dose clinical trial. The treatment was incredibly harsh, leading to multiple ICU admissions, and she was ultimately forced to stop due to its toxicity.
Even through this, Remy persevered. She completed Year 12 at Catholic College Sale and achieved something truly remarkable — earning a place at AFTRS (Australia’s most prestigious film school) in Sydney. She moved away to live on campus, but after just three weeks, she began experiencing severe and escalating pain. Remy was urgently forced to return home to Melbourne, where she required emergency spinal surgery, facing the frightening reality that she could of become paralysed at any moment.
After three months of being clear in November 2025, devastating news came again in March 2026 — the cancer had returned, more aggressive and in multiple locations. Remy was diagnosed with metastatic Ewing Sarcoma. Her care has now moved into the palliative stage.
Despite everything she is facing, Remy remains a vibrant and kind-hearted young woman. She has a deep love for music, movies, and creative arts, and dreams of working in the film industry. Above all, she treasures her family, her friendships, and the people around her.
We are reaching out for help to give Remy the best possible care, comfort, and time. A specialised treatment, Cabozantinib, is now her only option to help extend her life and improve her quality of life. This treatment costs $9,500 per month.
Funds raised will go directly towards this treatment, as well as ongoing medical expenses and anything that can bring Remy comfort and support during this time.
No family should have to carry this emotional and financial burden alone. Any donation, big or small, will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing Remy’s story would mean so much to us.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support.
With love, Randle & Grogan Families
