Byron was just finishing up a match-winning performance when he was on the receiving end of a rash tackle that snapped both the tibia and fibula in Byron's right leg resulting in his right foot being twisted more than 90 degrees to the side.
Doctors were able to quickly turn his leg the right way and put metal pins in the bones to make sure they set and Byron is on the road to recovery with regular and necessary physical therapy.
As a young professional who recently worked for a non-profit division of Columbia University and who has moved to New York City from Ireland, Byron doesn't have the benefit of sufficient employer-provided health insurance and so the necessary costs to get him back on his feet are piling up.
Byron is someone who truly cares about and gives to others as evidenced by his recent work at Columbia's Center on Global Energy Policy and his tireless dedication to his family, friends, and teammates. Now we're asking those family, friends, teammates, and others who want to express their appreciation and generosity to financially support Byron in his recovery.
