Welcome. If you’re visiting this page you are probably already aware of the sad news concerning Ramiro. In October Ramiro was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer and he now faces a period of treatment back in his native Spain, and a very uncertain future.

We won’t go into the details of his situation here, but if you haven’t done so already, you can read Ramiro’s own words on his CaringBridge blog . He has written very touchingly about the diagnosis and the start of his journey, and as long as his health and energy allows he will continue to provide updates there for friends, students, and loved ones.

This fundraising page has been set up by friends to help support Ramiro during this time. In order to focus his energies on the disease and the treatment he has cancelled all work commitments (except maybe a Christmas retreat at Sharpham tbc) for the foreseeable future and will now be without an income. Our hope is to supplement his own modest savings so that he feels he has enough resources to really take care of his body in the best ways possible. Eating the right food, purchasing supplements and complimentary care, trying alternative therapies and medicines – all of these we wish for Ramiro, and all have a cost. Frugal and humble as Ramiro is, this extra funding will open doors that he otherwise wouldn’t have contemplated.

About Ramiro

As many of you know, Ramiro has dedicated the last 15 years of his life to the Dharma. He served as a coordinator at Gaia House for nearly three years, trained as a mindfulness teacher, and has been leading retreats at Sharpham Trust since 2015. He also trained as a Dharma teacher with Bodhi College and as a philosophical counselor in Spain. In 2022, he also began teaching retreats at Gaia House.
