In December, I’ll be taking on the El Cruce Ultramarathon, a 100km stage race in Patagonia, with my friend Max Katz. We’ve decided to use the challenge as an opportunity to raise funds for schools in our respective communities. I will be raising for PS 15 to support the incredible work they do for their students. Max will be raising funds in support of Walter L Newbury Academy in Chicago.

PS 15 Roberto Clemente is a small neighborhood school in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, serving just 160 students - 35% of whom live in temporary housing. Despite the challenges of limited funding, they are deeply committed to giving every child a well-rounded education that nurtures both academic growth and individual talents. The story of PS 15 is one of growth and preserverance.

Schools like PS 15 are more than just classrooms. They’re vital parts of the community, supporting kids and families every single day. Mrs. Sanchez, the principal of PS 15, was kind enough to take the time to meet with me and discuss how we can best allocate funds to make an impact.

The below is directly from Mrs. Sanchez:

“Donations directly sustain our arts and enrichment programs, including music, dance, theatre, chess, and visual arts, as well as after-school opportunities like Tinker Thinker, our computer science program where students explore coding, robotics, and more. Your support ensures our children not only receive a strong education, but also discover passions that will shape their future. Together, we can continue opening doors of opportunity for every student at PS 15.”

It would be amazing to collectively help strengthen the education available to the students of PS 15, hopefully making a difference in their day to day lives.

Your support will go directly toward programs that provide a holistic education for the students of PS 15. Thank you!
