Supporting Pam's fight against Breast Cancer

As many of you know, my sister Pamela Edwards was diagnosed with breast cancer February 18, 2021.

Pam has been through six grueling rounds of chemotherapy (four different types at the same time). Unfortunately, she has experienced multiple complications along the way; her implanted port flipped inside her chest (a very rare occurrence), after a surgery to correct the port she developed sepsis, landing her in the hospital for over a week. At this time, she had to undergo surgery to remove the port, along with many tests to make sure the infection had not spread to her heart, (which thankfully it had not). She had multiple blood and platelet transfusions and IV antibiotics. Currently, she is receiving in home IV antibiotic therapy, three times a day for four to six weeks, as well as wound care of her port incision.

It doesn’t end there, she still need a mastectomy, reconstruction surgery and eleven weeks of maintenance chemo (and we are praying no radiation). Her mastectomy surgery has been postponed until the infection is gone. Pam and Jeff were supposed to go to Mt. Rushmore on July 19th (an experience that has been on Pam’s bucket list), however that has also been cancelled. It is our hope that before surgery, she will be strong enough to make that trip.

Throughout the many surgical procedures, extensive testing, multiple blood and platelet transfusions, antibiotic infusions and chemotherapy she has acquired a great deal of medical expenses. Thankfully, she has medical insurance, but her out of pocket expenses are growing rapidly.

It been difficult for Pam to ask help during this time, however it appears she will be needing more help than expected. Myself and our family have set up this GoFundMe to accept donations if anyone would like to contribute to defer her copious amount of medical expenses and help this family in anyway.
