Hi everyone,
Our names are Molly McGroary and Jessica Oboh! We are second year paediatric nursing students in DCU.
In May/June this year, we will be travelling to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to take part in a 4-week clinical placement in Muhimbili National Hospital, the country’s largest referral hospital. This amazing opportunity is in conjunction with Their Lives Matter (TLM) Organisation and CHI
During our time there, we will be based in the Paediatric Oncology Unit, caring for children and families facing cancer in an incredibly challenging healthcare setting.
While this placement is an invaluable learning opportunity for us, it also comes with significant costs — including flights, accommodation, visas, and essential vaccinations. We are funding this experience ourselves through fundraising and community support.
Our goal is not only to cover the cost of getting there, but also to give back directly to Muhimbili National Hospital.
Any funds raised beyond our essential expenses will be donated directly to the Paediatric Oncology Unit, where resources are often limited and even small contributions can make a meaningful difference.
Donations may help support:
* Basic medical and ward supplies
* Comfort items for children undergoing long-term treatment
* Resources to support families during extended hospital stays
Every contribution — no matter how small — will help improve care and comfort for children facing cancer.
We don't realise how lucky we are with the resources we have here in Ireland compared to these third world countries such as Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. So with your help we can give back to the Dar es Salaam community in helping their hospital to advance and succeed.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for supporting global health, paediatric care, and equitable access to treatment.
We are incredibly grateful for any support :))
