Our Fall 2020 line, DU NOT DSTUR13, would like to formally share the condition of our sister, Soror Keirra Kelly (Sensuous). Last July, Keirra received a devastating diagnosis that has greatly impacted her life and journey. Over the past year, she has taken time to process, grieve, and find her strength in this new chapter. Through it all, she continues to inspire us with her courage, faith, and resilience.

Keirra is currently battling terminal stage 4 brain cancer. She has since completed chemotherapy and radiation and travels frequently for appointments in Ann Arbor. Her circumstances do not allow her to work, as she is experiencing constant symptoms from the diagnosis. As a line, we have personally donated to Keirra over the last year to support her needs during this time.

She now faces ongoing medical expenses and the need for mobility assistance devices to maintain her independence and quality of life. As her sisters, we are committed to surrounding her with love and support every step of the way.

Her diagnosis has greatly impacted her quality of life. She has been using a cane and walker, which have been helpful, but not the safest, as balance is one of the symptoms that continues to be affected. It is now time to get a wheelchair. This would greatly improve her ability to spend time with family and friends, attend doctor’s appointments, and care for her toddler.

This past year has been financially difficult, with ongoing expenses for treatment and medical appointments. She has been placed on medications that are helping but must be maintained. She has struggled with vision, hearing, walking and other things as she is fighting this battle, which prompted additional appointments, including physical therapy. The funds would also go toward Keirra’s continued medical care and other necessary items to support her as she navigates this new way of life.

For those who may not know her, Keirra is a 2021 graduate with a B.A. in Criminal Justice. She is also a devoted mother to her 2-year-old son, Brayden, who is the sweetest little boy and her greatest motivation. Keirra currently resides in Kalamazoo, MI.
