Supporting our Sophia ❤️
Donation protected
The family and friends of Sophia Barajas are asking for support during this difficult situation. We need all of the prayers, positive thoughts, love, meals, and donations possible at this time.
Monday morning Sophia woke up with a large abnormal bump on her neck, no other symptoms. She was taken to the ER where she was cared for by an amazing team of doctors and nurses. Ultrasound and CT were concerning for malignancy. She was flown to CHLA (this kid does everything in style) where Sophia has undergone testing. Most recently she had an excisional biopsy under anesthesia to determine what we are dealing with. While we are extremely grateful to be here, the reason we are here is heartbreaking.
Sophia has displayed nothing but strength like a true chingonita! She remains joyful and playful, which in a way makes this feel harder. Her twin Eva and her have never spent this much time apart, so we are all trying to figure out a balance to ensure the girls see each other. We have been told this is a marathon and we need to pace ourselves, and to already feel this drained is overwhelming, but we find strength and keep the faith. Sophia's Mom, Dad, little brother, and twin sister have been fortunate enough to secure a room at the Ronald McDonald House that can be used as a home base.
The urinalysis and biopsy results revealed a diagnosis of neuroblastoma. Treatment begins the last week of October. The uncertainty and fear of this all is overwhelming, but Sophia’s resilience helps us stay strong for her.
We need all of the love, the texts, the prayers, and the good vibes. We love you so very much, and we thank you for caring enough to support us through the hardest situation we’ve ever encountered. We are all SOPHIA STRONG ❤️
