Supporting Our Sisters - Pi Zeta Chapter
Donation protected
Pi Zeta Chapter of Chi Omega was founded in 1960; in 1993, we built 1414 Fraternity Village Drive to be our home at Western Michigan University. For nearly 30 years, many Chi Omega sisters have lived, flourished and developed lifelong friendships in this beautiful home away from home.
Today, we are facing a huge financial challenge.
The Pi Zeta Chapter House is fully funded by room and board revenues. These revenues are used to pay our expenses: mortgage, employees, utilities, taxes, food, and maintenance.
Since the beginning of COVID, the Chapter has experienced challenges with filling the house. The house can accommodate nearly 36 sisters. Unfortunately, the house has not been full for the last two years, significantly impacting the revenue (approximately $100,000 per year) that the House Corporation depends on to keep the house running. Going into this upcoming school year, we are only housing 22 sisters.
The House Corporation board has been cautious and frugal with the budget. However, there have been increased expenses with cleaning, individual meal serving costs and closing during COVID. Additionally, we are faced with an extensive kitchen repair. This includes replacing the current non-working stovetop, two non-working ovens, and the deteriorated floor and replacing the venting hood above the stove to bring the kitchen up to operational code. This is approximately an $85,000 repair. In addition, with the Chapter House nearly 30 years old, the House Corporation foresees that there will be significant maintenance and repairs, such as 1st and 2nd floor bathrooms, roof, etc.
Over the past two and a half years, we have exhausted our “rainy day emergency” funds that we had set aside. So, sadly, we are unable to repay a loan at this time.
We need your help! We hope to have at least 400 sisters donate directly to this fundraising effort to support Pi Zeta Chapter House Corporation. This cannot happen without you. Your donation is crucial, and every donation counts. Please help us preserve our 63-year legacy on the WMU campus.
