It started with our mom, Kathy, feeling a lump in her breast in April. The subsequent months that have followed have been a blur of a nightmare for her and us—her daughters, Erynn and Meghan. Since then, she's been diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma and had surgery in June to remove the cancerous lump in her breast. She had difficulty healing post surgery and it led to her being unable to work. This weekend we were informed of the heartbreaking news that it has metastasized to other parts of her body—upgrading her diagnosis to Stage 4. She is our heart and our home. Kathy is resilience and, for anyone that has met her even briefly, laughter. She is fiercely committed to her sweet three grandchildren and continues to be a rock of strength for us and them throughout it all. We are confident in her doctors and the Team at UT Southwestern and praying for her treatment plan forward which includes chemotherapy over the next four months. We are raising funds to help cover her day to day bills (e.g., mortgage and car payments plus medical bills) over the next four months as she focuses on fighting against breast cancer.
