Supporting Our Mom: Krista McFarland

Donation protected
Hello!

My name is Lauren McFarland, and the beautiful women you see pictured above and below is my mother, Krista McFarland. I am one of her three children, along with my two sisters Bailey and Gabriella. First and foremost, I would like to thank you for taking the time out of your day and busy schedule to read my little novel below.

To start, I want to tell you a little more about our little family. My older sister Bailey (21) and myself (19) are currently in school working towards a career in Nursing! Our little sister Gabriella (16) is a junior at Princeton high school and plays volleyball as well! Now onto our mama, I don't even know where to start to put it lightly. If you don't know her, my mother chose the career of a Mental Health Therapist. She has spent her entire life and/or career helping others and truthfully changing lives. The stories from those I have had the privilege of meeting that have crossed my mother's path, are absolutely testimony to that. She is a beyond caring, courageous, kind, giving person that I have been so lucky and feel so grateful to have on this earth with me and through this life.
Nevertheless, why am I writing this?

A few months back, our mom had a routine appointment where high-grade pre-cancerous cells were found in her cervix, uterus, and ovaries. After speaking with different doctors, she made the heavy decision to have a Total Hysterectomy. This is a very common and routine procedure, however unfortunately for her it was not. Sparing the vast majority of details, she was able to go home with a catheter only to be re-hospitalized about two weeks later due to severe complications and issues arising.
She then was there for a total of 7 days going through hell and back for a lack of a better term, which then resulted in a Nephrostomy tube being placed for the foreseeable future due to the concern for her kidneys. She is finally home now after enduring 4 more procedures and is currently recovering for her upcoming ones in the next couple months to resolve these unanticipated, ballroom ceiling high, hurdles.

With that being said it is self-evident her recovery time has increased extremely, and she is unable to fully return back to work for an extended period of time. Along with that comes an immense amount of follow-up and check in appointments to hopefully rule out and prevent any additional complications. Furthermore, the medical bills with this whirlwind are and have been anything but forgiving to that.
My mom has bent over backwards and given the shirt off her back for most of her life and is always the last to ask for a helping hand. So, I am extending it and asking for her. Anything at all is unexplainably appreciated knowing our world can be so incredibly hard for everyone right now. Whether it's a penny, a kind message to our mom, hug, it is cherished. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read.
