Any of us are one incident, one diagnosis or one tragedy away from needing the help of others. It is often the people that need help the most, who are the most caring, and would give you the shirt off their back, even as they are trying to overcome challenges of their own. This is the perfect way to describe Lisa and Laird Hyslop. They are a fun, selfless, resilient couple who are devotedly loyal friends, family members and dedicated parents to their two boys, Rowan and Griffin.
In 2015, Laird was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system . MS is unpredictable and can cause symptoms such as extreme fatigue, lack of coordination, weakness, tingling, vision problems – to name a few. Laird has had to take a leave from work, as he focuses his efforts on a plan of treatment. Lisa, who is no stranger to beating disease, is taking her turn as the caregiver, while she works full time and is mom to their two busy boys.
Make no mistake – rising to the challenge and having an optimistic outlook and is what makes so many people have admiration and love for these two special people. But right now they need help. Besides the impact of having Laird on leave from work, keeping the boys involved in activities, the costs of medical appointments and travel associated with that – a tree toppled down in last week’s storm, leaving a fair amount of damage to their garage! For these reasons and because they would do the same for anyone else experiencing circumstances such as these, I’m asking for your support.
When there are so many sources of stress in a family’s life, we should do what we can to eliminate family finances as one of those stresses. Give what you can, to a family that always gives what they can, to others.
