In the early morning hours of October 1, 2026, my husband and I received the heartbreaking news that my father- and mother-in-law had been victims of a violent robbery at their home on their farm in Namibia.
We are incredibly thankful to God that they survived, but the experience has left them facing a difficult road to recovery, with unexpected medical expenses, damage to their property, and the loss of essential belongings.
It's hard to put into words what it feels like to be thousands of miles away from the people you love. Being so far away during something so frightening and traumatic is something I wouldn't wish on anyone. We wish more than anything that we could be there with them right now, helping in any way we can.
Our family is incredibly proud, and asking for help isn't something that comes easily. I want to be respectful of their privacy during this time, so I'm sharing only what is necessary. What happened to them was not their fault, and they have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. No one deserves to experience something like this, and they deserve the same kindness, compassion, and support that any of us would hope for in a difficult moment.
We're doing everything we can from here to help ease some of the burden. Funds raised will go toward their medical care, replacing essential items that were stolen, repairing damage to the farm's fencing, improving safety and security at their home and on the property, and helping us cover travel expenses so we can be with them during this time.
If you're able to contribute anything at all, or even simply share this fundraiser, it would mean more to our family than we can express. Every bit of support will help us take some of the weight off their shoulders and remind them that they are loved and supported, even from thousands of miles away.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, prayers, and generosity during such a difficult time.
