Asking for help is not something that comes easily to me; however at this point, I need to be honest about the difficult situation our family is facing.
I am almost 78-years old and currently the only source of income for our household; which following a bad storm has left us without air conditoning, a microwave, and only half power. My daughter lives with me along with her two sons, both of whom are on the autism spectrum. Their father passed away several years ago, leaving my daughter as their sole parent and support system.
My daughter is currently unable to work due to serious auto immune and spinal conditions that cause severe daily pain and limit her ability to function. She is under ongoing medical care and awaiting a decision on Social Security and Disability. Until that process is completed, she has no income to help support the household.
In addition, one of my two grandsons has significant medical challenges related to a congenital condition , and has already undergone brain, spinal, and thoracic surgeries. Between my daughter's health issues, my grandson's ongoing care, and even my own age-related medical needs, our lives revolve around frequent treatments and visits to the doctor. Many of our specialists ae located two hours away, which means regular four-hour round trips and significant fuel expenses.
At this time, all four of us are trying to survive on my Social Security alone, and simply put, we are not making it. Between medical costs, travel, rising costs in groceries , household bills, and the need to keep our only vehicle - my daughter's 2008 Toyota Sienna Le with over 200,000 miles- running, we are reaching a breaking point. Reliable transportation is essential to ensure everyone can continue receiving the care they need.
Our family has always tried to handle things on our own, but we have reached the point where we truly cannot do this without any help.
If you feel led to support our family, any donation - no matter the amount - will go directly toward essential living expenses, medical-related travel, and helping us maintain stability during this very difficult time.
From my heart, thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support.
With gratitude,
Patricia
