Support for Señor Boscia

Hello all,

I am reaching out to all of you on behalf of our friend and colleague, Chris, who on November 28 will undergo a major surgical procedure. As someone who has seen firsthand both the emotional and physical ordeal this disease has had on him, I am scared for his surgery but at the same time, hopeful that this procedure will alleviate the discomfort and pain he has suffered for over 3 years.

It is not easy to ask others for help, but after sitting with him when the doctor recommended, that he refrain from any physical labor for at least two months, I highly encouraged him to allow me to set up a Gofundme campaign to support his recovery.

Over the years, Chris has built amazing relationships and fundraised for many nonprofits and causes. I know that if we all contributed $5 - $10, we’d help him reach his goal in no time. Please consider giving what you can and let’s make sure that this holiday season is not one of stress but of hope for our dear friend.

With appreciation,

Alma

From Chris,

Hello Family and Friends:

As you may know, since 2020 I've been diagnosed with a fairly common but debilitating disease called Diverticulitis, which affects the colon and digestion. In my case, it was manageable at first, but after two scary visits to the emergency room, my team of doctors decided that a sigmoidectomy (the removal of a portion of my lower intestines) was the safest route for me.

This year has been quite a struggle for me physically and financially. I've had to give up many Spanish classes, excuse myself from Zoom meetings, and not take on too many responsibilities due to the substantial impact on my bowel movements (I will spare you the gory details).

As an all-around gig worker (actor, teacher, bartender, etc.), this has taken quite a toll. While most of my medical expenses will be covered through insurance, I have major concerns about surviving the post-operative months ahead. While they said the recovery can take up to 6 weeks, I'm hesitant to plan my gig work post-surgery.

I've got a great circle of friends and family that have insisted on taking good care of me while I recover, however, being unable to work for at least 2 months, I am very worried about my finances. While I am uncomfortable with this ask, please consider helping if you can. No small amount will go unappreciated. Thank you and Happy Holidays. And, PLEASE eat your fiber!

Chris
