Met deze crowdfunding willen we hen persoonlijk ondersteunen — om essentiële uitgaven te kunnen dragen, hen de ruimte te geven om op hun eigen moment naar Nederland te komen, en om de mogelijkheid te creëren voor een gezamenlijk herdenkingsmoment, omringd door familie en vrienden.

Dear friends, family and loved ones,

Kayla, the daughter of Olivia and Douwe, passed away recently in Lima, Peru. It is an unimaginable loss for her parents, her brother Marlon, and everyone who loved her.

Alongside the immense grief, the situation in Peru is complex and overwhelming. There is an ongoing police investigation, extensive paperwork, and difficult decisions that must be made, including procedures that may be required for further investigation. All of this comes with significant and unexpected costs, leaving very little space for rest or mourning.

As family and friends, we want to support Olivia, Douwe and Marlon in the best way possible. Our wish is to give them the opportunity, when they feel ready, to come to the Netherlands for a period of time. To be surrounded by loved ones, to find some peace, and to grieve without constant pressure. We also hope to organise a memorial gathering at a later stage, so that everyone who loved Kayla can come together to remember her.

For this reason, we have set up this crowdfunding campaign. The funds raised will be used for:

– costs related to Kayla’s passing and the ongoing procedures in Peru

– travel expenses and temporary accommodation in the Netherlands

– practical costs resulting from temporarily stepping away from daily responsibilities in Peru

– the organisation of a memorial gathering

This fundraiser is entirely separate from Stichting Esperanza Verde and is intended solely to support the family personally during this exceptionally difficult time. Olivia and Douwe founded their own foundation and have spent many years dedicating themselves to caring for animals in need in Peru. In this unforeseen and heartbreaking situation, we want to help ensure they do not have to rely on their personal resources to cover these extraordinary costs.

Lieve allemaal,

Kayla, de dochter van Olivia en Douwe, is recent overleden in Lima, Peru. Het is een onbeschrijfelijk verlies voor haar ouders, haar broer Marlon en iedereen die haar liefhad.

Naast het intense verdriet is de situatie in Peru complex. Het overlijden van een jong persoon brengt veel officiële procedures met zich mee en er zijn veel documenten nodig, en alles brengt hoge, onverwachte kosten met zich mee. In deze omstandigheden is er voor het gezin nauwelijks ruimte voor rust of verwerking.

Als familie en vrienden willen we Olivia, Douwe en Marlon graag helpen om , wanneer zij daar zelf aan toe zijn , tijdelijk naar Nederland te kunnen komen. Om hier, omringd door mensen die hen liefhebben, tot rust te komen. En om op een later moment samen een herdenkingsmoment te organiseren, zodat iedereen Kayla op een persoonlijke manier kan gedenken.

Daarom hebben wij een crowdfunding opgezet. De opbrengst is bedoeld voor onder andere:

– kosten rondom het overlijden en het lopende onderzoek in Peru

– vliegtickets en een tijdelijk verblijf in Nederland

– praktische kosten die ontstaan doordat zij hun leven in Peru tijdelijk moeten loslaten

– het organiseren van een herdenkingsbijeenkomst voor Kayla in Nederland.

Deze actie staat los van Stichting Esperanza Verde en is uitsluitend bedoeld om het gezin in deze uitzonderlijk zware periode persoonlijk te ondersteunen. Olivia en Douwe hebben Esperanza Verde zelf opgezet en zetten zich al jarenlang met hart en ziel in voor dieren in nood in Peru. In deze onvoorziene en ingrijpende situatie willen we voorkomen dat zij hun persoonlijke middelen moeten aanspreken.

Iedere bijdrage, groot of klein, helpt. Ook het delen van deze actie wordt enorm gewaardeerd.
