Supporting Ohana Affected by Lahaina Wildfires

Donation protected
Aloha mai kākou,

I hope this message finds you well during these challenging times. My name is Kristina Clemente, and I wanted to take a moment to share a personal story that has deeply impacted my family and me. Born and raised on the beautiful island of Maui, my roots are intertwined with the spirit and resilience of this place. While I now reside on Oahu, Maui remains a cherished part of my identity, as I am a daughter, sister, relative, and friend to its residents.

Recently, the Lahaina community was struck by the devastating Lahaina Wildfires. The aftermath of this tragedy has brought immense sorrow and helplessness, especially as my childhood home was among those lost to the flames. My parents, Nora and Craig Takushi, poured their hearts and hard work into creating a haven for our family, and to hear it's reduced to ashes has been heart-wrenching. [Please see 08/10 update below].

In the midst of this loss, I am profoundly grateful to share that my parents, my sister, Nikki Castro, and my brother, Kekoa "Sumo" Takushi, along with her loved ones, are safe and well. However, the fate of my sister's home remains uncertain, adding to the weight of the situation.

With a heavy heart, I humbly reach out to you, our community, for your support and kindness. If you find it in your hearts to offer any assistance, your kokua would directly benefit my family. The funds raised will go towards helping my parents as they navigate the challenges of rebuilding, as well as supporting my sister's ohana during this trying time.

The aloha spirit that binds us all is a beacon of hope in times of darkness. Your generosity, whether through a kind word, a thought, or a contribution, is a testament to the strength of our community. Together, we can help restore not only physical homes but also the sense of security and belonging that these homes represent.

If you would like to extend your support, please consider blessing my family through this GoFundMe Page.

From the depths of my heart, I thank you for your unwavering compassion and aloha. As we navigate this uncertain journey, I am reminded of the strength that lies within our community. Together, we can be a source of comfort and renewal, proving that even in the face of adversity, the spirit of aloha prevails.

With a heart full of gratitude,

Kristina (Castro) Clemente

***08/10 UPDATE***
With a heart filled with gratitude and relief, I am writing to share some uplifting news amidst the recent challenges we've faced. By the grace of God, our family home in Lahaina has been spared by the wildfire that swept through the area. The sense of relief and thankfulness that we feel is beyond measure, and we wanted to update you on our situation.

A quick assessment has shown that the most significant repair needed is a new roof. We recognize the enormity of our blessings and cannot help but feel deeply saddened by the surrounding devastation that leaves many of our community grappling with loss and uncertainty. Our hearts go out to them, and it reinforces our belief in the strength of our community that makes us #LahainaStrong.

If you still feel moved to bless our ohana with a donation, please know that your gesture will be received with immense gratitude and will be directed towards helping our Ohana with their roof replacement and for potential unforeseen expenses that may arise.

May the spirit of aloha continue to guide us as we stand together in times of trial.
