Naronate and I spoke to Dr. Joel Kopelman one of New York's best oculofacial plastic surgeons. He is willing to help Naronate get a prosthetic eye. The unique nature of Naronate's injuries will involve many surgeries before she is even in a position to get an eye. She will need a custom-made zygoma, as well as the resolution of the bullet fragments still lodged in her head. Dr. Kopelman is willing to help talk to and bring in other physicians to make this young lady's dream of having a prosthetic eye come true.

But, even with the most generous offer to help from this kind doctor and New York area hospitals, we were told her out-of-pocket expenses, will still by far exceed our initial fundraising target. It is for this reason that I am updating the fundraising target. Thanks, once again for your support to help this amazing lady get an eye.

Hi, My name is Emmanuel and I am fundraising for this beautiful young lady Naronate Ngwa, who was caught in the crossfire of the ongoing conflict in Cameroon. Her story is heart-wrenching. Her determination is inspiring. Her attitude is heartwarming. I am humbled by her experience and driven to help because no one deserves what she’s been through. And, no one can tell her story better than she can. I hope you will find it in your heart to listen to her story as told by her in the video clips below, and to support her. Nothing is too small. Below is what she wrote and some videos of this charming young lady, carrying the heavy scars of an ever-escalating conflict in Cameroon.

Hello well-wishers,

Thank you for taking the time to read or listen to my story. Thank you, Daddy Emma, for always supporting me since I was in the hospital after I got shot.

I am writing from Nicosia, Cyprus, where I have lived under very difficult circumstances for the last few years. I pray that you will find it in your heart to support me in my quest for resources to support a life-changing surgery to improve my situation.

On the 13th of July 2018, I was shot in my right eye, at the Widikum market in the North West Region of Cameroon, while trying to assist my mom to sell puff-puff. It has been a long and difficult journey since then. Somedays, I doubt if it is worth living, but I am sustained by faith and my belief that if the Lord has brought me this far, He will never abandon me until I can realize my dream of having a prosthetic eye reconstructive surgery and removing bullets still in my head, that causes me pain, headaches and sometimes infections.

A lot of you have heard my story on my Facebook page and BBC. Some of you have called me and have encouraged me during difficult times, helped me, or ask how you can help. I hope through this gofundme, you can contribute to help me to fund my treatment.

I am very grateful for your prayers, and your moral and financial support.
