On December 21, our dear friend Nabil was admitted to the hospital after experiencing severe, ongoing pain in his foot. What initially seemed like something manageable quickly became life-altering. Doctors discovered a serious infection and diagnosed him with diabetes. To save his life, they had to amputate most of his foot.
Nabil has now transitioned to the California Rehabilitation Institute, where he is beginning the long, brave road of healing, learning to walk again, and rebuilding his strength. It will take time, patience, and a lot of support before he can return to work and to the life he loves.
If you know Nabil, you know this already: he is pure heart.
As the Hospitality Manager at Heimat, he is the soul of the space. He doesn’t just do a job — he creates a feeling. He makes everyone feel seen, safe, and welcome. Heimat means “home” in German, and because of Nabil, it truly is one. He remembers names, checks in on people, notices when someone is having a hard day, and shows up with quiet kindness and steady care.
He also shared something that says everything about who he is: before December 15, Nabil hadn’t taken a single sick day since 2022.
That’s the kind of person he is — always giving, always reliable, always putting others first.
Now it’s our turn to show up for him.
We are raising funds to help cover his medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, loss of income during recovery, and the everyday needs that come with healing from something this significant. Any amount helps. Truly. And if you’re not able to give, sharing this means just as much. All money donated will go directly to Nabil.
Nabil has spent years taking care of others. Let’s help carry him through this chapter, so he can focus on healing and finding his way back to the life he loves.
With gratitude and love
