Hi everyone! My name is Beth and I’m starting this GoFundMe for my sister during the most heartbreaking time of her life—a time she never imagined facing and would never ask help for herself.

After a month-long hospitalization due to complications from a stroke, her husband, Chris, at only 51 years old, suffered a cardiac arrest and tragically passed away. Despite every effort, he was unable to recover. The loss was sudden, devastating, and life-altering.

My sister is now navigating life as a widow while carrying an overwhelming financial burden. Chris did not have life insurance, a 401(k), or savings. There are no financial benefits to fall back on—nothing to soften the impact of this loss. She works full time, but her income alone is not enough to cover rent, utilities, food, gas, insurance, and basic household expenses. She has already been given a temporary break on January’s rent, but February and the months ahead are uncertain, and she may be forced to move very soon.

On top of everything, she cannot afford a services to honor Chris’s life. The grief of losing her husband is compounded by the stress of simply trying to survive day to day. She is also a devoted mother to two sons who are currently in college, and she continues to put them first—even in the midst of her own heartbreak.

She does not know this fundraiser is being set up yet. She has never been one to ask for help, even in the hardest moments. I know she will likely initially be embarrassed that I did this, but as her sister, I would do anything to help ease this burden so she can grieve without the constant fear of losing her home or falling further behind. I know once she sees the love and support she has, her gratitude will be immeasurable.

All donations will go directly to her and they will all be used for:

A service to honor and celebrate Chris’s life

Any other end-of-life expenses

Rent and utilities

Food and gas

Insurance

Basic household needs

Any remaining funds will go towards future purchases/payments of the above noted things and will not be spent frivolously.
