Hello, a group of friends and I visited Marrakesh in September 2022 and stayed with Nadia, who was our host mum for the week.
Nadia Lakhsim is a kind-hearted, nurturing and hard working woman who took us in like one of her own children. We had an instant connection with her and she would bring us Moroccan breakfast and cook dinner with us most days. She also looked after two of us and made me some herbal remedies for when we were feeling very ill in the last few days of our trip. We had many moments of laughter, trying on some of the traditional clothes she brought for us to wear, and cooking a traditional 'Tajine' together at the end of the trip. We have experienced such warmth and love through her smile, humility and depth of heart.
We have remained in contact with her and see her very much like our Moroccan mum. This is why we have set up a gofundme to support her and her family after the devastating earthquake in Morocco. Unfortunately, a few of her family members have passed away and are in hospital due to the disaster and her house has been badly damaged. She is also caring for her children as well as her wider family. The decline in tourism after the earthquake has also impacted her job and earnings.
We're raising money to help Nadia and her children during this very difficult time. Donations will go towards:
1. Supporting them in rebuilding their family home in Marrakesh.
2. Assisting in any daily expenses during this difficult time, as the earthquake has also impacted her job.
3. Possibly supporting her wider family with medical / life expenses.
We feel it's the least we can do for someone who touched our lives so deeply. I will collect the funds from GoFundMe and then transfer the funds to Nadia via Western union.
Thank you for your support! We appreciate it dearly.
