Hello, my name is Shiloh Springford, and I am starting this GoFundMe for my father Lawrence Rowe, who lives on the island of Jamaica in the Cockpit Country region.

In October 2025, his village, Accompong, was hit very hard by Hurricane Malissa, which left many people without homes or belongings. After the storm, my father got a small cut that quickly developed into a serious infection called cellulitis. Cellulitis is a common but potentially serious bacterial skin infection that affects the dermis and underlying tissues, causing red, hot, swollen, and tender skin.

In his case, the infection has been very resistant to antibiotics and could potentially result in the loss of his leg. He is currently being treated at Mandeville Hospital, where he has been bedridden for about four months receiving IV antibiotics.

Because he lives in a rural area, medical care and resources are very limited. Things we often consider basic necessities such as food, medication, and fresh bandages are not always readily available, even in hospitals in his area.
