Supporting My Brother After a Selfless Sacrifice

Hi, my name is Chris Mars, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my brother Jesse Mars, who has taken on a tremendous burden in the wake of our father’s recent passing.

For years, my brother paid two rents — one for his own house in Atlanta, and one for half our dad’s apartment lease — just to make sure our father had a safe place to live. Now, regardless of providing a death certificate, the leasing office is still holding my brother financially responsible for the final two months of rent, totaling $3,600, (not including utilities) because the lease was in his name.

To make matters harder, we also must cover the cremation and transportation costs, estimated at $1,300. Altogether, that’s $4,900 in unexpected expenses.

We’re asking for help so that my brother doesn’t have to suffer credit damage or financial hardship after doing everything he could to care for our dad. Any support you can offer will go directly to covering these final expenses and honoring our father with dignity.
