Started an end of the season 'Neighbors Helping Benefit' recently and can't think of anyone more deserving this year than Chad and his crew from Mtn2Sea Ministries. We have been friends with them for several years and have seen their work firsthand. Not only in the USA but Worldwide. They rely on donations such as this to continue. We started doing disaster relief 20 years ago and have served in hurricanes, floods, tornados, fires, tsunamis, earthquakes, war, etc. Across the US from the Los Angeles fires to disasters in states from Texas to Florida, to NC to Kentucky, down to Puerto Rico and in many states in between. We have also served in major international disasters in Japan, Thailand, Ukraine, Haiti, Jamaica, Philippines, Honduras, Bahamas, etc.

We have used Mike’s weather page for the last 10 years to help us be prepared to respond instantly to weather disasters both in the US and Internationally. By providing us with long range detailed forecasts and educated opinions, we have been able to be ready to deploy as soon as the storms pass. Not waiting around trying to make a plan. Through Mike’s Weather Page we have been able to be “boots on the ground” while most are still planning on their response.

Our goal is to get to a disaster as soon as possible (day of in most cases). We strive to get a local church, fire station, etc. set up to immediately start serving their community. There is a time from impact to when the “calvary” of the government and large orgs. arrive and get up and running. This is generally around a week or so. In larger storms, it can be longer.

During this time, people are wandering if help is coming. The local authorities are overwhelmed, and the “big guys” are not yet there. People start losing hope quick! We bring in generators to get them up and running so they can instantly start serving their community. We provide pre-sorted supplies cabinets, so all they must do is open them and the community can get what they need. We are simply trying to fill this gap between impact and when the cavalry arrives.
