Supporting Ms.Tessy

Donation protected
Hi everyone! I hope you all are doing well. It’s been a crazy last few years. Last year Ms.Tessy had reached out to a few of us about her struggles in Philippines due to the Covid19 and regarding Ms.Alice’s health condition. She was asking for financial help to ensure Ms.Alice gets the treatment she needed. You may have heard, but unfortunately Ms.Alice passed away last year from cancer despite the treatments.

After that, Ms.Tessy continued to reach out to my brother and I for financial support to make ends meet (eat meals, pay basic bills, medical, etc). We supported her and want to continue supporting her to be able to live a basic lifestyle. Recently, she has been looking to start her own small business selling food from a stall.

Looking back at our times in hostel, it’s hard to imagine how we would have grown/functioned without her support. Due to that support, we were able to do well in school, get into good universities, then land good jobs. She has been been a vital part of my childhood, almost like a second mother. I have video chatted with her a few times and I am saddened to see how frail and alone she has become now.

I hope many of you share the same sentiment as I do. Because of this I am setting up this GoFundMe. It’s been hard to get a number from her as she is embarrassed to ask and keeps saying “I can send as much as I can give”. From some conversation and historical payments, I believe she needs about 10,000 Philippine Pesos ($235 CAD) per month. I have decided to set this GoFundMe for $3000 CAD for a full years support. I am hoping some of this will also help her set up her business to become more independent as well.

If you feel more comfortable giving money to her yourself, you can contact her through Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/celedonia.remorin)
The only way Ms.Tessy is able to accept money is through Western Union money transfer as she does not have a bank account.

Many of us are now lucky enough to live in a country where social welfare for the old/poor exists, but unfortunately Philippines does not have that system in place. Ms.Tessy only has herself and the people she knows to help her. Any amount is appreciated. :)
