I’m starting this GoFundMe because a lot people have asked how they can help, and for this I will never been able to express my gratitude. If you are someone close to me, you understand how hard it is for me to ask for help and how I’ve always tried to be independent and test myself against the world. But at this time, the world has knocked me out, and I need to get healthy again and continue raising my sons. I can’t do this alone this time. I need assistance with medical expenses while I’m still working full time and fighting for my life.
On December 10th, 2020, my entire world was turned upside down. A couple of weeks before I felt a lump on my left breast, I asked for a medical appointment that derived next day for a mammogram and ultrasound where they give me the notice of breast cancer, #her2positive which is a very aggressive kind with a high recurrence. Same day I was already having biopsies and December 22nd my mastectomy. Days before my 40th birthday I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I pretty much celebrate my birthday thinking that I have to fight for my life to continue raising and supporting 2 of our 3 kids , 2 teenagers , 14 and 16 years old.
After a month, I am in the most capable hands and grateful for my amazing team of doctors. I cannot ask anyone to fight this diagnosis for me, but I hope you help me to ease the stress of this financial burden since I have quickly learned that my insurance will not cover some critical aspects of my care, including many alternative and integrative therapies, medicines, experimental trials. My husband is my primary care and he will not be able to return to work during my treatment.
I understand life is hard for many people not just for me at this time, but I’m holding on tight because no matter what happens, when we work together things get better faster.
