My name is Liliana, and I am writing as a mother to support my daughter Miia’s professional figure skating journey.

Miia is 11 years old, and figure skating is not a temporary interest or a hobby for her. Since the age of five, she has been following a conscious professional athletic path that is already shaping her future. This path requires discipline, structured work, and full commitment, and her life and development are built around progressing in the sport.

Our family is originally from Ukraine. We have been living in Canada for a little over two years as newcomers, and choosing Canada was a deliberate decision. The Canadian figure skating system supports the sport at a high level and provides young athletes with real opportunities for development and growth. It is here that Mia continues to build her sporting career.

Miia currently trains and represents her home organization, Toronto Lakeshore Skating School (TLSS), and competes at the Pre-Novice level in Canada. In 2025, she competed at the Provincial Ontario Championships in Wasaga Beach. Her ongoing technical development reflects years of focused work and a serious commitment to the sport.

Competitive figure skating at a professional level requires far more than an athlete’s personal effort alone. At the age of 11, development depends on consistent coaching support, ice time, technical training, choreography, and competition experience. Behind every young athlete is a team of professionals and a family that takes responsibility for this path.

I raise my children independently and carry full responsibility for their development, education, and chosen professional direction. This fundraiser is intended to support Miia’s current training and competition stage — an important period in shaping her future athletic career. We approach this journey with responsibility, awareness, and respect for the demands of professional sport.

Miia was born on December 31, and for our family she has always been our New Year’s gift. During the holiday season and in the lead-up to her birthday, this fundraiser is an invitation for the community to become part of her journey and to support her continued development.
