Supporting Mia's Family In This Devastating Time

Donation protected
Friends, my name is Jenn, I’m the Great Aunt of Mia Elizabeth Tokio-Miller, who was born at just 3lbs 14 oz, 7 weeks premature, to my niece, Courtney Corrigan-Tokio, on February 18th, 2024. With the unending support of Mia’s father, Kyle Miller, Courtney has suffered for many years with a rare vein compression disorder, Nutcracker Syndrome, causing her debilitating pain and near constant hospital admissions. Because of this, Courtney endured a very difficult pregnancy, but she was devoted and steadfast in her role as a mom, with Kyle by her side.

Being a preemie mom myself, I can tell you that the early days in the NICU are a terrifying ride into unknown territory. It is being thrust into the hardest possible parenting struggle BEFORE you’ve even met your child. It is a situation where you have no control, and your happiest moment is surrounded by fear and uncertainty, rather than excitement and celebration. Courtney was guided by the love for her beautiful Mia, and pushed through with her unrelenting determination. It quickly became clear that Mia’s life would only fuel Courtney’s resolve to thrive, despite the odds. As the early days in the NICU passed, Mia filled us with hope and joy as she demonstrated her warrior strength. Miraculously, with the love of her family, Mia, made it home from the NICU in just 3 weeks.

Courtney and Kyle were thrilled to bring Mia home, and could finally start to marvel at the moments, create memories and begin to plan for all the little experiences life ahead. Tragically, the worst fears of any parent were realized on March 27th, when Mia’s life was cut short and she was given her angel wings. After their trying start, and followed by the ability to start dream of their future, Courtney and Kyle are now faced with the overwhelming despair of this unimaginable loss. Knowing there is compassion and caring around Courtney and Kyle, and tremendous love and sadness for Mia, I am reaching out to our community for support. My hope is to provide a small amount of relief, so these loving parents may have time and space to grieve. We're grateful for any assistance you can provide, including your thoughts and prayers.

Mia is forever in our hearts.

With deepest gratitude,
Jenn Corrigan
