This past Christmas Melissa received the most unwanted gift. She got the crushing news that she has Stage 3 breast cancer. She was diagnosed 12/20, celebrated (as if) New Years by having her port placed, and rang in the new year by starting chemo January 4th. Her 1st round of treatment will last for 8 weeks (every other week) followed by an even tougher chemo for 12 weeks. Finishing up her treatment plan will be a double mastectomy.
Melissa is as tough as nails and can handle ALMOST anything cancer will throw her way. HOWEVER, she has 3 beautiful babies who need their momma!! You see, Melissa is single momma to those 3 beautiful kiddos. Not only does she raise them basically by herself, the 2 youngest kids need her extra love and support because Sebastian (12) is a happy guy with Downs Syndrome and his little sister Scarlet (2) has Spina Bifida, which leaves Jaxson (14) with a huge responsibility to help his mom as best as his 14 year old self can.
The emotional and financial burden of fighting and surviving breast cancer is a challenge (to say the least) at any stage of life, but as a single mother of 3 it somehow seems even more unfair that Melissa is going through this right now.
Melissa definitely has family who are more than willing to help her when they can. BUT.....21.5 years ago a group of random girls and guys got together on the southside of Milwaukee and helped open a restaurant. In the summer of 1997, the crew tasked with the job of training that group of people said "look around, the faces you see here will eventually become your best friends, almost like family". This isn't just a job but an adventure."
God gave Melissa ALOT to handle, but God also gave her a bonus family. He put her with us at that little southside restaurant to be her bonus sisters, to help her carry her load.
This is where you and this fund come in. The medical bills continue to add up and the day to day responsibilities of life take over, we are reaching out to our amazing and supportive network of family and friends to help, in any and every shape or form. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will be a huge help to Melissa during the next few months.

-Daily care for her family
-Surgery and Reconstruction
-Medical treatment costs (chemo, radiation, other medications, as needed)
-Bills and expenses that will add up while Melissa is fighting
