On February 9th, Matt Schooler was rushed to the hospital with a serious foot infection following the diagnosis of “Charcot Foot” in early November, related to Diabetes. The doctors have conducted many blood tests, MRIs, x-rays, CT scans and discovered he was severely septic, had pneumonia, rapidly declining kidney disease and now requiring daily dialysis, and a GI-Bleed, as well as other serious medical issues. Unfortunately, he needed to have his right foot/lower leg amputated on 2/19/2023.

As you can see, he has been very ill, but seems to be turning the corner. He lost his job in early November and was unemployed for 2-1/2 months, but started a new job the middle of January. He did not qualify for unemployment, which became a detriment to our household income. We are uncertain of the road ahead in regards to the many changes, therapy needs, employment, and mobility issues coming his way in the next several months. He has been the main provider of income for our family; Joyce also started a new job in September 2022, and is working full time and carries the medical insurance. We are pretty overwhelmed financially right now, as you can imagine. Joyce is working on signing Matt up on social security/disability but it is a very long road. We are asking for any kind of financial help you can offer. I am so so sorry and very embarrassed to ask for help. Our family has been humbled and so grateful for the outpouring of love, words of encouragement, and prayers by all of you.
