Our colleague and friend, Drean Macalalad - a dedicated nurse and mother of five - has spent the last few months at Alberta Children's Hospital caring for her 9-year-old son, Matthew.

Matthew is currently battling both leukemia and Burkitt lymphoma and has already undergone multiple cycles of intensive chemotherapy. Since his diagnosis, Drean and her family have faced the emotional, physical, and financial strain that comes with having a very sick child in long-term hospital care.

Anyone who knows Drean knows how deeply she cares for others, both as a nurse and as a mother. During this incredibly difficult time, we would like to come together as friends and colleagues to help support her family in any way we can.

Funds raised will help ease some of the day-to-day financial pressures associated with long term hospital stays, time away from work, meals, parking , transportation, and supporting the family of seven while Matthew continues treatment.
