On March 3rd, 2026, our family’s world changed in an instant.
My brother in law Matt, a loving husband to my sister Sarah and an incredible dad to Tyler-11, Levi-8 and Rhylen-6, He had been unwell since the start of this year. After countless tests and hospital visits, we received the devastating news that he had a large tumour in his chest.
What followed was weeks of fear, uncertainty and waiting. An initial biopsy was high-risk and unsuccessful, leaving us without answers and unable to begin treatment.
Finally, after a second biopsy and PET scan, we got the news no one ever wants to hear.
Matt has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (Nodular Sclerosis subtype). The cancer has spread beyond his chest to his neck and bones, Spine and ribs.
Matt is only 30 years old but in that short time he has built a life many people spend decades trying to create. He is first and foremost a devoted dad and everything he does comes back to his three boys. Every long day, every sacrifice, every goal, it has always been about making sure his family is safe, supported, and loved.
He has now begun an intense treatment journey, undergoing chemotherapy and immunotherapy every two weeks for the next six months. While doctors are hopeful and have given a strong success rate, the road ahead will still be physically and emotionally exhausting. There will also be constant testing, with another PET scan in two months to see how he is responding.
Matt is a hands on dad, coaching soccer, supporting his boys and being there for every moment he can.
He only started his own painting business last year, and it was finally taking off. Now, he is unable to work, placing enormous financial and emotional strain on the family during an already overwhelming time.
As a family, we are asking for support to help ease some of that pressure.
Funds raised will go towards medical expenses, living expenses and supporting Sarah and the boys while Matt focuses on his recovery.
If you know Matt, you know the kind of person he is, someone who shows up, works hard, and puts his family first in everything he does.
Now it’s our turn to stand behind him.
Any support, whether that’s a donation, sharing this page, or simply keeping Matt and his family in your thoughts, means more than words can express.
Matt is a fighter. He is strong. And he is not facing this battle alone.
Thank you for being part of Matt’s fight ❤️
